Readers' Special: A Gift of Music

My family has been using my phone bridge to help my mom as she plans a major move. I've long appreciated the value of this seamless teleconferencing service for business, but I'm newly appreciative of its power to connect hearts as well as minds. For information about renting my bridge or leasing your own, send a blank email to bridge@mollygordon.com with "bridge" in the subject line.

Fast Focus
Act Naturally
If you want to be effective and authentic in marketing your business or promoting your project or cause, learn to act.

That's right. There's nothing quite a sincere as an elevator speech that you've practiced so much that you can deliver it without a second thought. Why? Because when you have complete mastery over the language you use to talk about your work, you can devote your full attention to connecting with the other person. In that connection, the words you have practiced time and again become animated by your real care and concern for the other. Your pacing, your emphases, your timing all unfold naturally, precisely because you have practiced so much.

Want to be authentic? Want to act naturally? Plan and practice!

Getting Free from Fear
Download your free copy of my e-book, "Getting Free From Fear: Four Principles for Living the Life You Want," at http://www.mollygordon.com/resources/index.html. Fear is an important and powerful ally when it alerts us to real threats. However, too often we live in unexamined fear, and, as a result, our lives are smaller than they need to be. This little e-book offers practical tools for understanding your fears and mastering them so that you can live the way you want to live, not the way you're afraid you have to live.

Open for Business
Come from Your Center, not Your Edges
Imagine that your life is a circle. At the center is your essential self, your very being. Out of that core spring the values that make you who you are. These values fuel the intentions that govern your choices and your behavior, ultimately influencing and interacting with the environment.

Each of us has a choice about the direction in which energy flows in our lives. We can harness the power of our core essence and channel it through our values, intentions, and behavior to shape the life we were meant to live. This is coming from the center. The alternative, coming from your edges, is to let energy generated and directed from the random events in your environment trigger your behavior, interfering with your intentions, stepping on your values and governing your essence.

Think about it: which is the more powerful position? Can you see how letting events and circumstances define your game plays havoc with your vision and calling?

Here are some common ways folks shift from the center to the edges:

Notice how each of these statements steals energy, momentum, inspiration. They pull focus from your center out to the edges of the circle, giving external circumstances power to direct your future.

Fortunately, the process work sin reverse, too. Every time you discover that you are allowing your energy and intentions to be directed by circumstances, affirm to yourself that you are being guided by purpose, inspiration, and your core values. One way I like to do this is to summarize the "edge" concern and then add, "and that's not what I'm up to today."

For example:

"I've been worried about what people think about me, and that's not what I'm up to today."

"I've been worried that I'll never be able to afford a new computer, but that's not what I'm up to today."

Try this simple practice for restoring your connection to your own center.

Readers’ Special
A Gift of Music
I invited my friend Werner John to put together a special offer for
New Leaf readers. He wants to earn money to tide him over the winter months and learn more about marketing online. I want to offer readers special incentives so that I continue to build the New Leaf community and I also want to be able to measure the response to special offers.

Werner already offers free shipping for any online order of more than one CD. Now, for a limited time,
New Leaf readers can receive 10% off any CD or combination of CDs. In addition, if you order four CDs, Werner will throw in a free copy of his Christmas Past, with special guest Eugene Friesen of the Paul Winter Consort. These discs make wonderful gifts.

To get your discount and free CD, go to http://www.woodflutes.com/elhome.html. Read about the albums, listen to samples, and make your choices. Then, when you use the online secure credit card order form, enter the discount code newleaf (one word!).

I hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity to support Werner's work and to get a great value for yourself.
